Mehr Abid, the author of the book “Fearless,” is a young writer from Turbat, Balochistan. She currently lives in Lahore, where she is a student at BDS Medical College.

Despite being a medical student, Mehr Abid maintains a passion for fashion and poetry. She began writing in 2016, and her poems were recently compiled into her book, “Fearless.” After reading “Fearless,” I found that some of her stories resonated with my own experiences. In many chapters, she shares her thoughts about people she once believed were honest friends, only to discover they were not.

Through her experiences, Mehr learned valuable lessons about friendship and fake love. She distanced herself from some friends and realized that family is the only constant. She beautifully expresses her love and gratitude for her parents in the book. She writes, “My mom deserves more than what this world has offered her,” and “A father is usually sacrificing each and everything he has for us, the children.”

One chapter that stood out to me was about her teachers comparing her to her sister. Unlike her sister, Mehr did not receive academic accolades or scholarships, leading to unfair judgments. Despite these challenges, Mehr is now a medical student and a published author, while her sister is not.

Mehr’s book is uniquely narrated, with each chapter offering insights into nature, writing, books, friends, home, and more. It consists of 184-page, in paperback edition, that evokes strong emotions, especially when she discusses about her life’s struggles. This book is one of the best books I have read, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in a heartfelt and inspiring read, especially to be fearless and to explore the dark and bright moments of life.
